We make it a priority to keep in regular contact with families...
However carefully we look after our residents we know we can never replace the closeness of family ties, and we don’t try. What we do instead is to make it easy for families to keep in touch by, for example, not limiting visiting hours, or arranging skype calls for holiday chats. Plus we are always available to discuss how things are going with a loved one, and if you’d like to get more involved, then our family association may be for you.
We are happy to freely share the wealth of experience we have built up over 30 years of helping to integrate long term care into family relationships. You’ll find some useful information on the advice and FAQ pages on this site. But for the fuller picture call or, better still, visit us. We’ll take the time to make sure you have the knowledge you need to make the best choices for you and your family.
Of course choosing a care home is one of life’s big decisions, but, properly considered, it’s one with a lot of positive outcomes.
We often find, and research bears this out, moving into a care home gives our residents the confidence to enjoy a whole new lease of life. This is for several reasons. Feeling safe and being looked after plays a big part. Also knowing your family knows you’re in good hands inevitably adds to your peace of mind. Then there’s the social life on tap, which can prevent loneliness and disconnection, both causes of depression in the elderly.
My mum spent four very happy years with you at Priors Mead for which we are very grateful. Jose felt safe, secure and cared for. Priors Mead does not feel like an institution; it feels like home.
Dr Clive Oliver
When I knew that we had to find a home for my mother, we were dreading the task having had such a bad past impression of care homes. But Priors Mead proved to be a home from home for Mum and for us for that matter.
My mother went to Priors Mead for a trial period but she liked it so much that she stayed until her passing. She always said it was like a 5 star hotel (my mother was very particular). She liked the food together with all the activities and interests the home provided.
Mum was very comfortable at Priors Mead and thanks to all the staff for making her so comfortable.
The experience for all of us was first class, including the ease and efficiency of booking her in/settling invoices.
It is not only a safe and peaceful environment, it is also a place of warmth and kindness. I feel fortunate that my mum is being cared for in such a lovely place. I commend all of the staff that work at Priors Mead for the qualty of care that my mum is receiving.
The staff made it clear that Priors Mead was my mother's home, extending every care possible to both her and the family, always making us welcome. Residents were treated with respect at all times and individuality was recognised.
I felt very much that I knew I had made the best choice for my mother.
We couldn’t have made a better choice when we picked Priors Mead.
Care home or homecare?
Though this site is about Priors Mead, we know residential care is not your only option. You may be considering being supported in your own home as an alternative. If you are at this planning stage – we can help you there too.
We also run an extensive and well-reviewed home care service, which means we are able to advise you on the full care picture.
