However carefully we look after our residents we know we can never replace the closeness of family ties, and we don’t try. What we do instead is to make it easy for families to keep in touch by, for example, not limiting visiting hours, or arranging skype calls for holiday chats. Plus we are always available to discuss how things are going with a loved one, and if you’d like to get more involved, then our family association may be for you.

We are happy to freely share the wealth of experience we have built up over 30 years of helping to integrate long term care into family relationships. Of course choosing a care home is one of life’s big decisions, but, properly considered, it’s one with a lot of positive outcomes.

We often find, and research bears this out, moving into a care home gives our residents the confidence to enjoy a whole new lease of life. This is for several reasons. Feeling safe and being looked after plays a big part. Also knowing your family knows you’re in good hands inevitably adds to your peace of mind. Then there’s the social life on tap, which can prevent loneliness and disconnection, both causes of depression in the elderly.
